14TH REGION FINALS: Lady Cougars beat KCC; headed to Sweet 16

WHITESBURG – Letcher Central overcame a first-half deficit to take the lead away from Knott Central in the final period and the Lady Cougars rallied for a 45-40 win in the girls’ 14th Region Tournament championship game played on Saturday night.

Letcher Central, now 25-10, will face Ryle in the opening round of the girls’ Sweet 16 Tournament at Rupp Arena on Wednesday afternoon. Knott Central saw its season end at 20-13.

Kaylee Banks fired in a game-high 17 points to lead the Lady Cougars. Loren Boggs and Brooklynn Collins chipped in nine apiece.
