15TH REGION TOURNAMENT: Dawgs survive in OT; Central nips Valley

The second night of girls’ 15thRegion Tournament was a battle back and forth in both quarterfinal round games as Pike County Central and Lawrence County survived to play another day.

The Lady Bulldogs, winners of the 58th District, had to work overtime to turn back upset-minded Paintsville, 67-59.

Miss Basketball candidate Kensley Feltner scored 26 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead her team. Kaison Ward and Sophie Adkins added 10 each.

The Lady Tigers got an outstanding performance from its top guns as eighth grader Kylie Kinner stripped the nets for a game-high 34 points. Emilea Preece finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double.

Lawrence County will advance to Friday night’s semifinals to face Pike County Central. The Lady Hawks rallied in the final 90 seconds to edge Shelby Valley, 43-41.

Abby Hess had 11 points in the win and Emalie Tackett added 10.

Miley Riddle paced the Lady Kats with 15 points and Zoee Johnson added
