57TH DISTRICT TOURNAMENT: JC, Paintsville advance to finals

Paintsville punched its ticket to the 57th District tournament championship game with an 8-5 win over Magoffin County in the nightcap played at Eagle Field on Tuesday. 

Ashley Wells and Mattie Ratliff both doubled, drove in two runs, and scored. Wells also singled twice and Ratliff once. 

Winning pitcher Laney Bledsoe had three hits, including a double, and scored a pair of runs. Maggie Music singled twice and scored both times. 

Katie Howard doubled and singled, scored one run and batted in two in the loss. Jaylynn Lafferty added an RBI single. 

Jaden Williams was the losing pitcher as the Lady Hornets season ended at 10-11. 

The Lady Tigers, now 12-13, will face Johnson Central in the title game.

Johnson Central pitcher Maddie Vaughn tossed a no-hitter and belted a home run to lead the Lady Eagles to a 10-0 win over Martin County in the opener of the 57th District tournament played at Eagle Field on Tuesday night. 

Jaden Bowling singled and walked twice while driving in three runs. Kaleigh Welch doubled in one run and scored three times. Clara Blair singled, scored and added an RBI. 

Vaughn struck out 10 and allowed just two walks as Johnson Central improved to 21-13. 

KK Osendott took the loss for the Lady Cardinals, who finished the season at 9-17.
