59TH DISTRICT TOURNAMENT: Pikeville, Valley advance to title game

Defending 15th Region champion Pikeville dominated from start to finish as the Lady Panthers cruised past East Ridge, 67-23, in the girls’ 59th District tournament game played at T.W Oliver Memorial Gymnasium on Wednesday night.

The Lady Panthers, now 21-5, will face Shelby Valley in the finals on Friday night. East Ridge’s season ends at 5-22.

Kenzie Maynard led Pikeville with a game-high 21 points. Emma Ratliff tossed in 10 while Kristen Whited added nine.

Haleigh Damron paced the Lady Warriors with seven points and Breanna Taylor net six.

Kentucky commit Cassidy Rowe returned from an injury to help guide Shelby Valley to a 76-43 victory over Jenkins in a girls’ 59th District tournament matchup played at T.W Oliver Memorial Gymnasium on Wednesday night.

Rowe had 10 points, five steals, five assists and four rebounds as the Lady Kats, now 12-9, advanced to face Pikeville in the championship game on Friday. Jenkins saw its season end at 8-16.

Alyssa Elswick had 18 points and five boards while Zoee Johnson added nine points and eight rebounds. Kelsey Owens net 11 while Jazzy Meade and Kyra Looney added nine points each. Laci Johnson had 11 rebounds.

Jerrica Thacker paced Jenkins with a game-high 19 points and Kristin Thacker followed with 15.
