ALL ‘A’ CLASSIC ROUNDUP: Valley, Paintsville clash in finals today

PIKEVILLE – Shelby Valley scored the game’s first 18 points and the Wildcats went on to beat Pikeville, 66-52, in the 15th Region boys’ All “A” Classic semifinal matchup played at the Appalachian Wireless Arena on Saturday night.

Mr. Basketball candidate Cody Potter fired in a game-high 33 points and pulled down nine rebounds as the Wildcats improved to 14-4. Elijah Sykes followed with 16 points and Kaden Robinson tossed in 10.

The Panthers, now 10-7, were led by Nick Robinson’s 18 points. Grayson Harris finished with 13.

PIKEVILLE – Paintsville managed to escape Phelps and advance to the All “A” championship game with a 31-28 win in a game played at Appalachian Wireless Arena on Saturday night.

Colby Fugate led the Tigers, now 8-8, with 13 points and Nick Keeton added 10.

Dominick Francis paced the Hornets (10-9) with 10 points and Jason Casey tallied eight.

PIKEVILLE – Pikeville survived Martin County’s comeback late in regulation as the Panthers earned a hard-fought 78-71 win over the Cardinals in overtime to advance to the semifinals of the All “A” Classic played at the Appalachian Wireless Arena on Friday night.
The Cardinals, now 7-11, erased a nine-point deficit and had a last-second chance in regulation to win.

Rylee Samson led three Panthers (10-6) with 27 points. Grayson Harris tallied 13 and Nick Robinson tossed in 10.

Brady Dingess led Martin County with 21 points. Trey James finished with 19 and eight rebounds while Braxton Maynard netted 11.

PIKEVILLE – Prestonsburg nearly erased a 16-point deficit in the final six minutes of play as Shelby Valley held on to escape with a nail-biting 61-57 win in the quarterfinals of the All “A” Classic played at the Appalachian Wireless Arena on Friday night.
Cody Potter finished with 19 points and Keian Worrix followed with 14 as the Wildcats improved to 13-4. Kaden Robinson added 10.

Gunner Williams led all scorers for the Blackcats (6-8) with 29 points. Graham Burchett finished with 12 and Adam Slone added nine.
