During his 4:00 p.m. press conference on Thursday, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear announced a partnership with NASCAR that puts new dates on the 2020 calendar at Kentucky Speedway.
According to associates with the AP, the events will be on the following dates:
— Thursday, July 9 at Kentucky: Xfinity
— Friday, July 10 at Kentucky: Xfinity
— Saturday, July 11 at Kentucky: Trucks
— Sunday, July 12 at Kentucky: Cup
Beshear said there will be no fans at the events.
Beshear is expected to give more information about the events during his next scheduled press briefing on June 4.
NASCAR is among the first sports leagues in the United States to attempt a comeback since the COVID-19 pandemic forced mass shutdowns in mid-March. NASCAR began resuming its season in South Carolina on May 17.
