PIKEVILLE – University of Pikeville took a 6-5 decision over Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) University on Saturday to earn a doubleheader split with the Cougars at Johnnie LeMaster Field.
Tyler Menrath delivered a two-run double in the bottom of the eighth inning to score Royce Brittentime and Pastor Sanchez with the tying and go-ahead runs as the Bears moved to 5-9.
Sanchez had tripled and single while Kase Mattingly singled in one run and scored.
Jorden Davey was the winning pitcher in relief. Kevin Justice worked a scoreless seventh.
UPIKE will next host Milligan College in a midweek doubleheader. First pitch on Wednesday is set for noon.

PIKEVILLE – University of Pikeville saw a two-run lead slip away in the middle innings as Mount Vernon earned an 8-6 win in the first game of a doubleheader played on Saturday.
Eduardo Bell had a two-run single and Dillon O’Grady added three hits, including a double, scored and drove in one run. Demarco Miller had an RBI single while Tyler Menrath, Noah Helton and Kase Mattingly all singled and scored
Peyton Dove took the loss.

PIKEVILLE – University of Pikeville took an early lead before Mount Vernon (Ohio) stormed back to upend the Bears, 9-3, in the series opener played at Johnnie LeMaster Field on Friday.
Dillon O’Grady and John McKenzie each singled and drove in one run while Noah Helton doubled and scored. Ronaldo Tijero had a pair of hits, including double.
Brady Cappe suffered the loss.
