COLLEGE BASKETBALL: UPIKE men, women sweep Thomas More

PIKEVILLE – University of Pikeville used a big second-half performance to turn away upset-minded Thomas More, 68-64, in a game played at the UPIKE Gymnasium on Monday.

Jordan Perry scored 20 points and Da’Rell Domineck followed with 12 while J.J. Ramey, getting his first start, added 11 as the Bears improved to 15-1. Jazz Parker chipped in 10.

The Bears will return to action against Campbellsville University on the road Thursday. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m.

GEORGETOWN – Georgetown built a double digit first half lead and held off University of Pikeville to earn a 73-60 win in a game played Jan. 4.

The loss snapped the fourth-ranked Bears 14-game winning streak to open the season. Luke Layhew led a balanced UPIKE attack with 17 points. Da’Rell Domineck finished with 13 while Jazz Parker and J.J. Ramey tossed in 10 each.

Brianna Burbridge fired in 18 points and Kayla Mullins followed with 17 as the Bears moved to 13-5. Mary Englert tallied 11.
