COLLEGE BASKETBALL: UPIKE women sweep Georgetown College

The University of Pikeville women’s basketball Bears completed a regular-season sweep of Mid-South Conference opponent Georgetown College with an 81-72 win in a game played at the Appalachian Wireless Arena on Monday night.

UPIKE improved to 13-6 overall and 9-6 in league games. The Bears have won seven of their eight home games.

Alexis Reed led four Bears in double figure scoring with 20 points. Brianna Burbridge followed with 16 while Sierra Feltner tallied 15. Morgan Stamper added 13.

UPIKE  will take a two-game winning streak on the road to Portsmouth, Ohio on Thursday night to face Shawnee State.

The University of Pikeville Bears jumped out to an early lead and went on to beat Georgetown College, 64-53, in a road game played on Saturday.

Hailey Free led a balanced scoring attack with 15 points while Alexis Reed added 13. Morgan Stamper chipped in 10.
