HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL: Belfry’s Hagy reaches career win No. 300

Belfry head baseball coach Michael Hagy has scored some big road wins since taking over the Pirates program in 2005.

He reached a milestone Tuesday night at Inez as Belfry defeated Martin County, 9-8. It was career win No. 300.

His century wins have all come on the road. No. 100 was won at Champion Field, as part of the Disney Wide World of Sports complex in Orlando with a win over Maloney, Conn., 6-5.

Number 200 was record at Robinson Creek as the Pirates defeated Shelby Valley, 11-0, in a game played on May 5, 2014.

Gage Fields had four hits, walked, scored three times, and drove in one run as the Pirates improved to 20-11. Jake Varney doubled and singled while knocking in a pair of runs and Ashton Deskins had two hits, walked, and scored three runs.

Noah Brown was the winning pitcher.

Chase Preece had a pair of doubles and drove in three runs for the Cardinals, who dropped to 13-18. Evan Crum added an RBI singles.

Dylan Fitch was tagged with the loss.
