HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL: Logan, Man unbeaten in post season; Tigers stay alive

Logan and Man remain unbeaten in sectional tournament play while Chapmanville remained alive with a victory over Scott.

Chapmanville broke open a close game with a five-run, fourth inning as the Tigers eliminated Scott, 10-2, in the sectional post-season matchup played on Saturday.

The Tigers, now 12-19, pounded out 14 hits. Trey Butcher had three hits, including a home run and drove in two runs. Brody Dalton had four hits, one a double, scored a pair of runs and added an RBI.

Evan Plumley singled in a pair of runs and Tyson Thompson added two hits, one a solo home run.

Jacob Topping was the winning pitcher.

At Madison

Man pitcher Ryan Cozart tossed a two-hit shutout and Caleb Blevins blasted a tape-measure home run to power the Hillbillies to a 10-0 post-season win over Buffalo in a game played at William “Tootie” Carter Field on Friday.

Blevins also doubled and knocked in three runs as the Hillbillies improved to 18-8. Jace Adkins doubled, walked, scored twice, and batted in two runs while Brady Hall-Montgomery singled in one run and scored.

Caleb Vance singled, walked, scored a pair of runs and knocked in one while Cam Frye had two singles, walked, and scored and drove in one run.

Chapmanville pounded out 13 hits and built a big lead early against Wayne and the Tigers stayed alive in the post-season with a 10-6 win over the Pioneers on Friday night.

Brody Dalton had three hits, including a pair of doubles, scored once, and knocked in two as the Tigers moved to 11-19. Will Kirkendoll added two singles, scored two runs, and drove in two.

Winning pitcher Evan Plumley doubles in three runs. Jake Justice scored three times.

Logan pitcher Dawson Maynard tossed a two-hit shutout as the Wildcats blanked Scott, 9-0, at Roger Gertz Field on Friday night.

Konner Lowe had three singles and knocked in three runs as the Wildcats improved to 20-5. Aiden Slack added a pair of hits and scored three runs. He also walked and had an RBI.

Carson Kirk singled and batted in three runs while Jake Ramey singled and scored twice.
