HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Bobcats roll past Jaguars; LCC falls at KCC

Betsy Layne ran out to a big lead early on against Floyd Central and went on to score an 80-58 district win at Junior Newsome Arena on Tuesday night.

Jordan Frazier led a balanced scoring attack for the Bobcats (3-4) with a game-high 28 points. Chase Mims finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double while Brady Robinson tossed in 14.

Nicholas Howell and Byron Tackett chipped in eight apiece.

Braden Moore paced the Jaguars, now 1-5, with 18 points and Brody Buck followed with 14 and Ronnie Sammons added 10.

East Ridge battled Boyd County for the better part of three quarters before the Lions earned a hard-fought 55-47 win in a game played on the Reservation Tuesday night.

Eli Sykes paced the Warriors, now 4-3, with 16 points. It was East ridge’s second straight game against an eastern Kentucky power. Braxton Stanley followed with nine points and Eli Rose added eight.

Martin County won its third straight game as the Cardinals rolled past Lawrence County, 79-50, in a game played at MCHS Gymnasium on Tuesday night.

Brady Dingess led five Cardinals (4-4) in double-figure scoring with a game-high 23 points. Luke Hale tallied 13 while James Dials and Jacob Butcher followed with 11 each. Parker Davis added 10.

Cody Maynard paced the Bulldogs, now 4-3, with 19 points. Trenton Adkins netted 14 and Baden Gillispie added 11.
