HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Hawks, Lady Hawks post wins

Pike Central ran out to a commanding lead in the opening quarter and rolled to a 96-29 win over Ligon Home School in a game played at the Hawks Nest on Wednesday night.

Jaylan Rigdon led five Central (8-5) players in double figure scoring with 16 points. Josh Du Toit followed with 15 while Hunter Adkins and Kasope Lawrence added 11 each. Jaden Stewart tallied 10.

Pike Central’s Lindsey Bowman’s last-second basket lifted the Lady Hawks to a 48-47 come-from-behind win over East Ridge in a game played at the Reservation on Wednesday night.

Hannah May tossed in 11 points to lead the Lady Hawks, now 3-13.Emalie Tackett tossed in 10 and Abigail Hess chipped in nine.

Leah Wells scored 16 to lead all scorers for the Lady Warriors (2-11). Sylvia Ratliff finished with 12 and Haleigh Damron added eight.
