HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Lady Kats fall in All A opener; PHS wins 3 games in 24 hours

Shelby Valley’s late charge against Owsley County came up short as the Lady Kats fell, 58-54, in the opening round of the girls’ All A Classic state tournament played at “The Palace” on Sunday afternoon.

Kyra Looney and Laci Johnson paced Valley, now 8-4, with 14 points each. Alyssa Elswick followed with 10 and Jazzy Meade added nine.

The Lady Panthers, now 12-4, scored the most points in a single quarter with 41 in the first period and 66 in the opening half.

Kristen Whited led a balanced scoring attack with 15 points. Trinity Rowe, Emma Ratliff, Kenzie Maynard, and Kylee Hall all finished with 10 each.
