HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Panthers top Wildcats; Eagles down Tigers

Pikeville landed four players in double figure scoring and beat 59th District rival Shelby Valley, 73-57, win at the Shelby Valley Sports Center on Tuesday night.

Rylee Sammons led the offensive attack with 19 points and Lukas Manns followed with 17 as the Panthers improved to 4-1 and beat the Wildcats, now 4-2, for the second time in four days.

Laithan Hall finished with 15 points and Zac Lockhart added 10.

Keian Worrix fired in 21 points to lead the Wildcats while Kaden Robinson added 17. Anthony Pallotta finished with nine.

Johnson Central used a big third quarter to take the lead away from cross-town rival Paintsville and the Golden Eagles beat the Tigers, 68-55, in a game played at Eagle Fieldhouse on Tuesday night.

Cory VanHoose led a trio of Golden Eagles (5-1) with 22 points. Isaiah May followed with 18 and John King net 10. Grant Rice chipped in nine.

Braxton Tharp paced the Tigers, now 2-4, with a game-high 28 points and Jaxson Watts added nine.

Bodie Bentley fired in a game-high 25 points as the Cougars improved to 3-2. Nigel Nichols and Isaiah Adams added nine apiece.

Mason Prater paced the Hornets (0-6) with 13 points while Keandre Galaurb-Jackson followed with 11. Dominick Francis chipped in eight.
