HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Pike Central, Martin County winners

Pike Central’s Kasope Lawrence scored 25 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to power the Hawks to a 74-59 win over Wellspring Home School in a game played at the Hawks Nest on Monday night.

Jaylan Rigdon paced three other Hawks (3-1) in double figure scoring with 16 points while Latee Childress followed with 13 and Josh Du Toit tallied 12. Bryce Adkins chipped in eight.

Martin County used a balanced scoring attack to pull away and beat Betsy Layne, 75-59, in a game played at MCHS Gymnasium on Monday night.

Jacob Butcher paced the Cardinals, now 2-4, with 19 points while Brady Dingess added 18. Luke Hale tossed in 17 and Parker Davis tallied 12.

Brady Robinson led the Bobcats (2-4) with a game-high 26 points. Jordan Frazier finished with a double- double, scoring 16 points, and grabbing 10 rebounds. Chase Mims chipped in 10.

Belfry fell behind by double digits in the first half and the Pirates were bounced by Danville, 79-57, in the Sayre School Jim Lankster Classic in Lexington on Monday afternoon.

Bol Kuir finished with a double-double, scoring 19 points and grabbing 16 boards as the Pirates dropped to 4-2. DeMahjae Clark tossed in 11. Ben McNamee chipped in nine.
