HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Prestonsburg outscores Jenkins

Prestonsburg scored 31 points in the third period to take the lead away from Jenkins and the Lady Blackcats went on to earn a 90-74 victory in a game played at Prestonsburg Fieldhouse on Monday night.

Faith Lazar led the Lady Blackcats, now 5-3, with 25 points and Maggie Nelson finished with 22. Celina Mullins added 15 and Alivia Slone totaled 14.

Jenkins standout Jerrica Thacker poured in a game-high 36 points, including 10, three-point goals, as the Lady Cavaliers dropped to 2-6. Lindsey Rose tallied 20 and Kristin Thacker tossed in nine.

Pikeville used a balanced scoring attack to run past Betsy Layne, 61-45, in a game played at Junior Newsome Arena on Monday night.

Chloe led four Lady Tigers (3-4) with 16 points while Leandra Curnutte tallied 15. Ava Hyden chipped in 11 and Camryn Helton finished with eight.

Kim Akers paced the Lady Bobcats, now 1-4, with 15 points and Madilyn Meade added 12. Katie Kidd had eight.
