HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: JC, Belfry, Pikeville hold 1,2,3

A shakeup in this week’s Mountain Top Sports Super 7 football poll had no change at the top as undefeated Johnson Central, Belfry and Pikeville held strong at No. 1 through 3.

The Golden Eagles, now 6-0, hammered Letcher Central  while the Pirates (5-2) rolled past Pike County Central. The Panthers were idle.

Shelby Valley, now 6-1, climbed into the No. 4 spot following the Wildcats road win over Bath County.

Lawrence County improved to 3-1 and jumped up to No. 5 following a road win over Floyd Central.

Paintsville, now 5-1, dropped to No. 6 after losing on a last-second field goal at Raceland. Letcher Central (4-1) tumbled to No. 7 following a big loss at top-ranked Johnson Central.

Receiving votes this week are Martin County (3-2) and Tug Valley (3-0).
