HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Panthers roll into state semifinals

Pikeville pulled away from Williamsburg in the second quarter and the Panthers cruised into the Class 1A state semifinals with a 50-21 win in the regional championship played at Hillard Howard Field on Friday night.

The Panthers improved to 12-2 and captured a 25th regional title.

Quarterback Isaac McNamee passed for 202 yards and five touchdowns while running back Blake Birchfield finished with 196 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries.

Wade Henley and Zac Lockhart hauled in a pair of touchdown passes each and Grant Scott added a TD catch. Hensley had five catches for 74 yards and Lockhart added 73 yards on six receptions. Scott had 55 yards on three catches.

Brendan Anthony added a rushing touchdown.

Pikeville will host Raceland (12-1) on Nov. 26. Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm.
