HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER: Prestonsburg remains unbeaten; LCC, P’ville win

Prestonsburg went on the road Saturday and shutout host Ashland Blazer, 6-0, in boys’ soccer action.

Grant Justice scored two goals while Preston Crase added two goal and one assist as the Blackcats improved to 3-0. Isaiah Collins scored one goal and assisted on two while Dylan Moore added one goal.

Matt Burchett had two assists and goalkeeper Jacob Martin added one.

Letcher Central…..1

Perry Central took charge against Letcher Central and went on to beat the Cougars, 5-1, in a match played at Perry Central on Saturday.

Andrew Pence had two goals and assisted on one while Ethan Perkins scored once and assisted on one goal. Mason Hensley and Kobe Stamper added one goal each.

Javier Polly scored off an assist by Joseph Campbell for the Cougars only goal.

Goalkeeper Nate Cox had 20 saves in the loss.

Letcher Central goalkeeper Kassandra Ramirez had seven saves and shut out host Perry County Central as the Lady Cougars scored a 4-0 win in a match played Saturday. It was her second straight shutout to open the season.

Rylee Lewis scored two goals while Angelina Acevedo and Brooke Bates added one each as the Cougars improved to 2-0.

Martin County…3

Paintsville’s Camryn Helton scored all four goals, including the game-winner as the Lady Tigers earned a thrilling 4-3 victory over host Martin County in a match which took double overtime to decide on Saturday.

Ava Hyden and Leandra Curnutte had one assist each as Paintsville evened its record at 1-1.

Sophia McCoy led the Lady Cardinals with a pair of goals. Lena Hale scored one goal and assisted on one other.

Prestonsburg’s Lauren Johnson and Anna Burchett scored two goals each to power the Lady Blackcats to a 5-2 win over Russell in a road match played on Saturday.

Chloe Collins added an assist and goalkeeper Alivia Slone finished with seven saves as Prestonsburg improved to 3-0.
