HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER: Prestonsburg sweeps All ‘A’ tournament opponents

Prestonsburg goalkeeper Jacob Martin limited Martin County to just a single goal as the Blackcats advanced to the 15th Region boys’ All “A” soccer championship at StoneCrest Sports Complex with a 5-1 win on Thursday night.

Isaiah Collins scored three goals while Dylan Moore and Grant Justice added one each as Prestonsburg improved to 5-0. Matt Burchett had two assists while Austin Buchanan, Preston Crase and Moore added one each.

Martin County’s lone goal came off the leg of Jestin Barker. Reece Merrill assisted.

Cardinal goalkeeper Ethan Frey had seven saves in the loss.

Letcher Central won for the first time in five matches this season with a 5-0 victory over host Wolfe County in a match played Thursday night.

Javier Polly had two goals while Joseph Campbell added one goal and three assists. Zackary Cornett and Aaron Banks scored one each.

Goalkeeper Nate Cook had seven saves in recording the shutout.

Belfry and Johnson Central battled to a 4-4 tie in a match played at Massey Energy Soccer Complex on Thursday night.

Logan Maynard scored three goals for the Pirates Aiden McCoy added one goal and assisted on another.

Johnson Central’s Nathaniel Kumar and Sawyer Crum scored a pair of goals each for the Golden Eagles.

Belfry goalkeeper Makaden Maynard totaled 17 saves. Johnson Central took 27 shots on goal. JC goalie Tate Cox finished with nine saves as the Pirates took 18 shots on goal.

Prestonsburg was dominated from the outset as the Lady Blackcats cruised to an 8-1 victory over Martin County in the 15th Region girls’ All “A” soccer semifinals played at StoneCrest Sports Complex on Thursday night.

Anna Burchett knocked home four goals and assisted on one other while Lauren Johnson added three goals and one assist. Chloe Collins finished with one goal and two assists.

Starting goalkeeper Alivia Slone had four scores and did not allow a goal. Reserve Crystal Allen gave up a single goal to Martin County’s Sophia McCoy. Lena Hale assisted on the play.

Goalkeeper Marlie Fletcher had 10 saves in the loss.

Johnson Central took charge against Belfry and rolled to a 7-1 win in a match played at Massey Energy Soccer Complex on Thursday night.

Kelci Blair had three goals as the Lady Eagles improved to 3-0. Haley Lykins added two goals and assisted on three others.

Lakin Bentley scored once and had two assists while Abigail Williams scored one.

Goalkeeper Chloe Dyers had three saves and allowed just a single goal as Belfry’s Mylah Caudill scored on a penalty kick.

BHS goalkeeper Jazzy Cline had 14 saves as the Lady Eagles fired 23 shots on goal.

Shelby Valley goalkeeper McKenna Caudill totaled 19 saves to help lead the Lady Cats to a 3-1 victory over Pikeville in a match played at Teco Field on Thursday night.

Faith Newsome scored a pair of goals and Lauryn Mullins added one, all unassisted.

Pikeville’s lone goal came from Kylee Hamilton off an assist by Allison Atkins.

Goalkeeper Larren Collins finished with nine saves in the loss.
