HS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: P’Burg, Pikeville advance to All A semifinals

Pikeville punched its ticket to the 15th Region All “A” Classic tournament semifinals with a dominating 63-51 victory over Martin County at the Appalachian Wireless Arena on Tuesday night.

Trinity Rowe tossed in 15 points and dished out 10 assists to finished with a double-double in the season opener. Teammate Kenzie Maynard added 14 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for her own double-double.

Kristin Whited added13 and Rylee Theiss chipped in nine.

Laken Williams led a trio of Lady Cardinals in double figures with 15 points. Lynndsey Cassell followed with 12 and Lakyn Porter added 10.

Prestonsburg earned a spot in the 15th Region All “A” Classic tournament semifinals with a 60-43 win over East Ridge in a game played at the Appalachian Wireless Arena on Tuesday night.

The Lady Blackcats landed four players in double digit scoring as Faith Lazar led the way with 13 points and six rebounds. Maggie Nelson and Alivia Slone finished with 11 each while Celina Mullins added 10 points, eight rebounds and nine steals.

Leah Wells led the Lady Warriors with 15 points and Kristen Easterling followed with 12 while Sylvia Ratliff chipped in eight.

Johnson Central used a big second quarter to take charge androll to a 75-45 road win over Jenkins on Tuesday night.

Kelci Blair had a big game with 27 points as the Lady Eagles moved to 1-1. Clara Blair tossed in 14 and Sammi Sites added 10. Kailyn Vannoy chipped in nine.

Kristin Thacker paced the Lady Cavaliers (0-1)with 11 points and Jerrica Thacker reached 2,000 career points by adding nine. Emma Stewart scored nine.

Alyssa Elswick led the way with 19 points while Cassidy Rowe followed with 13 points and 10 assists to finish with a double-double. Sarah Robinson added 12 and Kyra Looney chipped in nine and Jazzy Meade had eight.

Kyra Thornsbury paced a balanced scoring attack with 15 points while Linzee Philips and Cushi Fletcher added 12 each. Kyra Justice chipped in eight.

Leandra Curnutte and Emilea Preece finished with 14 each for the Lady Tigers.
