HS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Pikeville beats Valley in district showdown

Pikeville went on the road to Shelby Valley and knocked off the previously unbeaten Lady Kats, 47-40, in a 59th district showdown on Thursday night.

Trinity Rowe paced the Lady Panthers, now 4-1, with a team-high 14 points. McKenzie Maynard followed with nine and Kristen Whited chipped in eight.

Alyssa Elswick led the Lady Kats (4-1) with a game-high 15 points and Zoee Johnson added nine.

Lawrence County opened the game on a 16-0 run and the Lady Bulldogs made it stand up in a 79-65 win over Morgan County in a game played on Thursday night.

Kensley Feltner led the Lady Bulldogs (4-1) with a triple-double, scoring 26 points, grabbing 13 rebounds, and dishing out 11 assists. Kaison Ward and Kyleah Ward added 16 points each. Sophie Adkins tallied nine.
