HS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Valley, BL, Man post tournament wins

PRESTONSBURG – Shelby Valley’s Cody Potter poured in a game-high 34 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to power the Wildcats to a 69-50 victory over previously unbeaten Wolfe County in the opening round of the Hi-Tech Signs/Graphix Tournament played at Prestonsburg Fieldhouse on Thursday night.

Kaden Robinson added 21 points and Zack Johnson tossed in 10 as the Wildcats improved to 5-2.

PRESTONSBURG – Betsy Layne’s Jordan Frazier put in a basket as time expired on the clock to lift the Bobcats to a stunning 59-58 win over Morgan County in the opening round of the Hi-Tech Signs/Graphix Tournament played at Prestonsburg Fieldhouse on Thursday night.

The Bobcats, now 4-2, overcame a double-digit deficit in the second half to win the game. Frazier finished with a game-high 26 points. Brady Robinson followed with 15 and Chase Mims chipped in nine.

CHAPMANVILLE – Man hit clutch free throws down the stretch to earn a 71-61 victory over Tug Valley in the Country Roads Showcase played at Chapmanville High School on Thursday night.

Peyton Adams fired in a game-high 24 points as the Hillbillies moved to 2-0. Caleb Blevins tallied 11 and Jackson Tackett tossed in 10.

Caleb May paced the Panthers, now 0-2, with 19 points and Ian Reed added 10.
