HS SOCCER ROUNDUP: Belfry boys, girls sweep Pikeville

Belfry built a five-goal halftime lead against Pikeville and the Pirates went on to score a 10-0 win over the Panthers in a match played at the Massey Energy Soccer Complex on Monday night.

Dalton Stacy scored three goals while Tyler Slone and Jasper McCoy added two each as Belfry moved to 2-4-1. Logan Maynard and Ryan Varney each had one goal and one assist. Ian Long added one goal and Aidan McCoy had two assists.

Goalkeeper Makaden Maynard finished with six saves as Pikeville attempted 10 shots on goal.

Pikeville goalkeeper Bryson Collins finished with 11 saves. The Pirates took 31 shots on goal.

The Panthers dropped to 0-4.

Martin County’s Bobby Hale knocked home three goals and assisted on four others as the Cardinals cruised past host Paintsville, 10-0, on the Tigers rain-soaked field on Monday night.

Jestin Barker added three goals and Reece Merrill scored two and assisted on one other as Martin County evened its record at 3-3.

Isaiah Zuidema scored once and assisted on four goals while Jacob Bailey scored. Evan Mills had an assist.

Goalkeeper Ethan Frey had four saves in recording the shutout.

South Point, OH…3

South Point (OH) came into Eagle Field and shutout the host Johnson Central Golden Eagles, 3-0, in a match played Monday night.

The Golden Eagles, now 3-2-1, were shutout for the first time this season.

JC goalkeeper Tate Cox had eight saves.

Belfry’s Bailey McCoy scored off an assist from Kinzie Jackson in the 75th minute to snap a two-all tie and send the Lady Pirates to a hard-fought 3-2 win over Pikeville in a match played at the Massey Energy Soccer Complex on Monday night.

Zoey Caudill and Jackson added unassisted goals for the Lady Pirates, now 2-6.

Kylee Hamilton and Rylee Theiss had one goal each for the Lady Panthers, who dropped to 2-6.

Panther goalkeeper Larren Collins had 11 saves as Belfry took 16 shots on goal. Belfry’s Jazzy Cline had six saves as Pikeville took 13 shots.

Martin County won its fifth match in the last six as the Lady Cardinals downed Paintsville, 5-1, in a steady downpour on Monday night.

Sophia McCoy and Julia Pinson had two goals each as Martin County improved to 5-3. Caitlyn Horn added one goal while Savannah Young and Pinson each had an assist.

Goalkeeper Marlie Fletcher had three saves allowed just a single goal to Paintsville’s Camryn Helton.

Paintsville goalie Emilea Preece had eight saves as the Lady Tigers dropped to 3-3.
