Kentucky men’s tennis claims four ITA regional awards

Matthew Gordon, Gabriel Diallo and team recognized for outstanding efforts this year

While the season may be over, the Kentucky Wildcats men’s tennis program continues to make history by racking up prestigious awards. UK won four Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Awards, the ITA announced on Monday.

Assistant coach Matthew Gordon was named the Ohio Valley 2022 Assistant Coach of the Year, while junior Gabriel Diallo won the Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award as well as the ITA Rafael Osuna Sportsmanship Award. Collectively, the team won the ITA Community Service Award.

Gordon has now become the first assistant coach in program history to win the award multiple times, previously winning it last year.

Diallo became the seventh player in program history last year to earn ITA All-America honors in both singles and doubles in same season.

The Kentucky men’s tennis team goes out of their way to contribute to the Lexington community in several ways. Throughout this school year alone, the team has accumulated 92 hours across the school year.
