MTS/BWW PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Valley’s Rowe takes honor; edges out Elswick

Shelby Valley senior Cassidy Rowe had games of 20, 13 and 20 points in helping lead her team to the Mountain Classic girls’ basketball championship this past weekend, earning her the Mountain Top Sports/Buffalo Wild Wings Player of the Week honor.

The senior will play this fall at the University of Kentucky.

She edged out teammate Alyssa Elswick who had games of 13 points and 13 rebounds, 18 points and 12 rebounds and 17 points to help the Lady Kats stay unbeaten.

Special honorable mention:

Belfry’s DeMahjae Clark had games of 21 26 points as the Pirates split a pair of road games.

Floyd Central’s Ronnie Sammons scored 27 and 19 points as the Jaguars remained unbeaten.

Lawrence County’s Cody Maynard had games of 35, 12 and 11 for the undefeated Bulldogs.

Phelps’ Mason Prater tallied 28 and 23 points in back-to-back wins.

Belfry’s Jenna sparks scored eight points and had 20 rebounds in a win in the Mountain Cassic.

Floyd Central’s Kennedy Harvel had games of 25 and 29 points in a pair of victories.

Lawrence County’s Kensley Feltner net 30 and 18 points in wins.

Pike Central’s Emalie Tackett finished with games of 27 points and 11 rebounds, and 15 points and 13 rebounds.

Pikeville’s Trinity Rowe scored 28 and 14 points in a pair of wins.

Honorable mention:

Belfry’s Tykee Peterson scored 14 and 20 points. Teammate Sal dean finished with 16 and 12.

Betsy Layne’s Shawn Howell tallied 24 points in a win and teammate Brady Robinson added 20.

Lawrence County’s Trenton Adkins scored 14, 16 and 13 Martin County’s Luke Hale net 28 in a road win.

Pike Central’s Josh Du Toit had 21 points and 10 rebounds in a narrow loss to Lawrence County.

Prestonsburg’s Caleb Lawson had games of 25 and 13 points.

Shelby Valley’s Collier Fuller scored 20 points and Caleb Lovins net 12 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Johnson Central.

Betsy Layne’s Madi Meade scored 22 and 12 points and Shyla Kidd added 20 and 13.

East Ridge’s Leah Wells scored 9, 16 and 13 points.

Martin County’s Laken Williams had games of 23 and 13 while Katie Marcum scored 24 and 18.

Letcher Central’s Kaylee Banks had games of 17 and 16 points and Keira Couch scored 14 and 11.

Paintsville’s Leandra Curnutte tallied 21 and 16 points ad Emilea Preece tossed in 16 and 20.

Prestonsburg’s Faith Lazar scored 15 and 13 points.
