STATE BASEBALL TOURNAMENT: Hazard rallies to stun Johnson Central

Johnson Central was three outs away from advancing to the state baseball tournament’s Elite Eight against Hazard at Sonny Allen Field on Saturday in Morehead.

Dawson Duff delivered a two-run double to cap a three-run seventh inning to rally the Bulldogs to a 3-2 win over the Golden Eagles.

It was the third straight post-season game the Bulldogs rallied in their final at-bat to win the game.

Ryan Sartin-Slone had a pair of hits, including a double and he drove in one run. Matt Crum doubled and scored while Keygan Pelfrey added two hits and scored.

Gavin Crum was the losing pitcher in relief of starter Cameron Kelsey.

Johnson Central finished its season at 26-14. The Golden Eagles had won seven straight games before the loss.
