SWEET 16 TOURNAMENT: Lyon County’s Perry passes ‘King Kelly’ in win over Newport

Lyon County junior standout Travis Perry eclipsed “King Kelly” Coleman’s all-time scoring record with 23 points as the Lyons knocked out Newport, 61-46, in the opening round game played at Rupp Arena on Thursday afternoon.

He hit a free throw with 3 minutes, 48 seconds remaining to move to 4,338 points.

Teammate Jack Reddick followed with 17 points.

Marquez Miller led Newport with 17 points.
