UPIKE ATHLETICS: Cheer squad achieves history with MSC championship

BOWLING GREEN – UPIKE cheerleading achieved history on Saturday by winning the Mid-South Conference title at the MSC Championships. The win is UPIKE’s fourth overall conference title and the program’s first since 2016.

Pikeville won the team title with a final score of 85.03, 1.06 ahead of second-place Cumberlands.

The team competition was not the only title that UPIKE picked up as the Bears also picked up the gameday competition title with 30.2 points. Pikeville also finished second in the all-girl stunt category.

UPIKE had four cheerleaders named to All-Conference teams, three of which made First Team. Madison Campbell, Ashlie Eldridge, and Morgyn Dixon were all First Team All-Conference honorees, while Amanda Back made Second Team.

UPIKE now will get ready to compete for the NAIA National Championship, beginning with the Mideast Group Qualifier on Feb. 28 in Georgetown.
