15TH REGION ALL A ROUNDUP: Pikeville, Betsy Layne win openers at AWA

PIKEVILLE – Pikeville built a big halftime lead against Paintsville and went on to score a 54-22 win in the opening round of the 15th Region All “A” Classic tournament played at the Appalachian Wireless Arena on Thursday night.

Kelsey Jo Tackett finished with 14 points and Alivia Gearheart followed with 11 as the Lady Panthers moved to 11-3. Kirsten Cole-Williamson chipped in nine.

Camryn Helton and Emilea Preece paced the Lady Tigers (6-9) with six points apiece.

PIKEVILLE – Betsy Layne took the lead away from East Ridge early on and went on to earn a 59-50 victory in the opening round of the 15th Region All “A” Classic tournament played at the Appalachian Wireless Arena on Thursday night.

Alexandria Jarvis led the Lady Bobcats, now 4-12, with 15 points and Madilyn Meade tallied 12.

Sarah Tackett paced the Lady Warriors (5-9) with 19 points while Kyra Looney and Leah Well followed with 10 each.
