15TH REGION SOFTBALL: Pikeville, Johnson Central clash in finals tonight

Pikeville and Johnson Central punched their tickets to the championship game with victories on Saturday and Sunday at East Ridge High School.

Tonight’s winner moves on to the state tournament.

Pikeville built an eight-run lead against Lawrence County and the Lady Panthers held off a late push by the Lady Bulldogs to score a 9-6 win in the semifinals played on Sunday.

Kelcie Adams had four hits and drove in a pair of runs as the Lady Panthers improved to 29-10. She also scored three times.

Winning pitcher Emily Ford added two hits, including a triple, scored once, and batted in two while Cassidy Slater singled twice and knocked in two runs.

Ginna Jones and Olivia Hall each singled and had an RBI. Shana Ray singled three times and scored three runs.

Kensley Feltner tripled in a pair of runs and scored as Lawrence County’s season ended at 28-9. Gracie Preece had two hits, one a double, and drove in two runs while Shelby Blevins singled in one run. Abby Nelson doubled, singled twice, and scored a pair of runs.

Taylor Blevins was the losing pitcher.

Johnson Central ace pitcher Chloe VanHoose tossed a no-hitter as the Lady Eagles blanked Shelby Valley, 10-0, in the semifinals played on Sunday.

VanHoose was outstanding as the Lady Eagles improved to a school-record best 32-6. She also doubled and drove in two runs.

Kendal Hall had two hits, including a double, walked, scored, and batted in three runs while Clara Blair doubled twice and scored both times.

Madelyn Vaughn singled in one run and scored. Emily Adkins singled and scored a pair of runs. Randi Delong and Abigail Williams each singled and batted in one run.

Lily Napier took the loss as the Bat Kats season ended at 13-20.

Pikeville hurler Emily Ford allowed just three hits as the Lady Panthers advanced to the semifinals with 2-0 win over Paintsville on Saturday.

Ford doubled, singled, and scored as Pikeville improved to 28-10. Ginna Jones had an RBI single. Isabella Rose had two hits. Kelcie Adams singled and walked while Cassidy Slater reached base and scored.

Taylor Hannah had two hits for the Lady Tigers, who season ended at 16-20. Maggie Music singled. Chloe Hannan was tagged with the loss. She allowed seven hits.

Johnson Central jumped out to an early lead and went on to beat Floyd Central, 10-1, in a matchup played on Saturday.

Winning pitcher Madelyn Vaughn allowed just one run and one hit as the Lady Eagles moved to 31-6.

Randi Delong had a pair of doubles, scored twice, and drove in four runs. Clara Blair doubled, singled, scored and added two RBIs. Emily Adkins had two hits, one a double, and batted in a pair of runs

Mayson Delong doubled, singled, walked and scored twice while Kendall Hall added two singles and scored twice.

Savannah Holbrook singled in one run and scored. Josie Dials added an RBI single.

Emma Dudleson walked twice and scored the lone run for the Lady Jaguars, who season ended at 12-17. Gracie Martin had the only hit, a single.

Ashley Bellamy took the loss.

Shelby Valley advanced to the semifinals with a 12-1 victory over Belfry in the quarterfinal-round matchup played on Saturday.

Kyra Looney had a big game offensively with three hits, including a triple. She scored two runs and drove in two. Maggie Hall added two singles and drove in two runs while Olivia Bowling doubled, singled, walked, scored two times, and added an RBI.

Olivia Thornsburry singled in two runs while Katelyn Thompson singled, scored twice and added a pair of RBIs. Riley Fleming doubled in one run and scored two.

Macy Salyers and Elaina Tackett both scored twice. Lily Napier was the winning pitcher.
