Belfry broke open a close game at the outset of the fourth quarter to advance to the 15th Region boys’ semifinals with a 63-46 win over Shelby Valley in a game played at the Appalachian Wireless Arena on Tuesday night.
DeMahjae Clark led a balanced scoring attack with 16 points while Sal Dean followed with 15 and Ben McNamee tossed in 13 as the Pirates improved to 17-9.
Keian Worrix had 14 for the Wildcats, whose season ended at 17-9.
The Pirates will face Paintsville (13-8) at 8:15 pm on Friday night.

The Paintsville Tigers dominated from the outset and breezed past Lawrence County, 84-54, in the 15th Region boys’ matchup played at the Appalachian Wireless Arena on Tuesday night.
Colby Fugate fueled the rout with a game-high 35 points as the Tigers improved to 13-8. Braxton Tharp tossed in 14 and Baron Ratliff added 11.
Trenton Adkins paced Lawrence County with 22 points. Cody Maynard tallied 12 as the Bulldogs wrap up the season 11-11.
Paintsville will next face Belfry (17-9) in the semifinals at 8:15 pm on Friday night.
