15TH REGION TOURNAMENT: Cardinals ride Dingess’ numbers to berth in semifinals

PIKEVILLE – Martin County guard Brady Dingess brought his “A game” to the Appalachian Wireless Arena on Wednesday night.

Dingess scored 18 points, grabbed eight rebounds, dished out eight assists and finished with five steals as the Cardinals advanced to the boys 15th Region Tournament semifinals with a 77-51 victory over Prestonsburg.

Martin County, now 20-12 and winners of 11 straight, will face Pikeville (17-11) Saturday in a rematch of the All “A” Classic matchup won by the Panthers in mid-January.

Braxton Maynard led the balanced scoring attack with 20 points while Ethan Smith-Mills followed with 15 points and nine boards. Trey James added 10.

Adam Slone paced the Blackcats (9-19) with 15 points and Ryan Rose followed with 12 and eight boards. Will Gullett finished with a double-double, scoring 10 points and pulling down 10 rebounds.
