Pikeville pitcher Emily Ford retired the final out on a come backer to the mound with the tying and go-ahead runners on base as the Lady Panthers edged Floyd Central, 3-2, in the opening round of the 15th Region softball tournament played at Massey Energy Field on Memorial Day.
Kelcie Adams had three hits, including a pair of doubles, walked, and scored one run while Ford tripled and scored.
Izzy Rose had an RBI while Shana Ray singled twice.
Allyson Stumbo had a pair of singles and batted in one run in the loss. Chelsea Johnson doubled in one run and Emma Dudleson tripled and scored.
Cadyn Roberson was the tough-luck loser.

Pike County Central ace hurler Chloe Hannah tossed a two-hit shutout as the Lady Hawks blanked Paintsville, 10-0, in a game called in the fifth inning.
She also doubled twice and drove in a pair of runs.
Sydney Thompson tripled twice, scored one run, and batted in two while Taylor Hannah singled twice, walked, and added an RBI.
Emalie Tackett added an RBI single and scored. Abby Hess had an RBI single.
Losing pitcher Laney Bledsoe and Ashley Wells each singled in the loss.
