Martin County held on down the stretch to edge Paintsville, 53-48, in the girls’ 57th District championship game played on Thursday night.
Alyssa Allen led a balanced scoring attack with 16 points while Laken Williams added 15. Brooklyn Marcum followed with 10. Katie Marcum finished with 12.
Kylie Kinner led all scorers with a game-high 22 points. Emilea Preece tossed in 12 and Kali Mulcahy added nine.
Martin County, now 25-5, advances to the 15th Region tournament as a number one seed. Paintsville (19-11) will be a number two seed.
