PRESTONSBURG – Lawrence County built a double-digit halftime lead against Prestonsburg and went on to score a 57-40 victory in the opening round of the girls’ 58th District Tournament played at Prestonsburg Fieldhouse on Monday night.
The Lady Bulldogs, now 18-13, advance to the championship game and punch their ticket to the 15th Region Tournament next week in Pikeville. The Lady Blackcats season ends at 11-16.
Kensley Feltner fired in 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to finish with a double-double. Brooke Neal followed with 15 points and Alexis Ratliff added 12 points and eight boards. Ellie Webb chipped in nine.
Alivia Slone paced Prestonsburg with 15 points Celina Mullins and Maggie Nelson chipped in six apiece.

PRESTONSBURG – Floyd Central is back in the 58th District Tournament championship game following a 58-26 victory over Betsy Layne at Prestonsburg Fieldhouse on Monday night.
The Lady Jaguars, now 19-8, have won eight straight games and qualified for next week’s 15th Region Tournament with the victory. Betsy Layne’s season ends at 9-22.
Katie Jo Moore tossed in 14 points and 13 rebounds to lead a balanced attack and finish with a double-double. Brook Stumbo followed with 12 and Kennedy Harvel tallied 11.
Madilyn Meade led the Lady Bobcats with nine points and Kim Akers tossed in eight.
