PRESTONSBURG – Lawrence County rallied in the final period from six points down to pull even with Floyd Central and then went on in overtime to earn a thrilling 56-53 win in the 58th District Tournament championship game played at Prestonsburg Fieldhouse on Thursday night.
It was the school’s first-ever district championship in girls’ basketball. They have competed in four different districts.
Kensley Feltner poured in a game-high 31 points and pulled down 13 rebounds to help the Lady Bulldogs move to 19-13. Brooke Neal chipped in nine points and Kaison Ward added 10 boards.
Kennedy Harvel led the Lady Jaguars (19-8) with 16 points and Katie Jo Moore finished with 15 points while Grace Martin added 13.
Both advance to next week’s 15th Region tournament in Pikeville.
