JENKINS – Pikeville rallied from a seven-point, fourth quarter deficit to pull even and the held off East Ridge in overtime to score a heart-stopping 68-67 win in the opening round of the boys’ 59th District Tournament played at Jenkins High School on Tuesday night.
The Panthers, now 15-11, advance to the championship game and qualified for the 15th Region tournament next week. The Warriors season ends at 10-16.
Rylee Samons poured in 23 points and Grayson Harris and Nick Robinson added 15 points each in the win.
Jon Mills paced East Ridge with 16 points. Hunter Damron finished with 15 while Eli Rose and Isaac Woods tossed in 12 each.

JENKINS – Shelby Valley dominated from start to finish as the Lady Cats rolled past East Ridge, 68-35, in the opening round of the girls’ 59th District Tournament played on Tuesday night.
Alyssa Elswick paced the Lady Cats, now 19-8, with 16 points and Cassidy Rowe tossed in 12. Tori Hampton added 10 points and seven rebounds.
Haley Parks and Kyra Looney led the Lady Warriors with 11 points each.
