GOODY – Belfry took control early in the game against Pike County Central and rolled to a 70-36 victory in the opening round of the boys’ 60th District Tournament played on Tuesday night.
The Pirates, now 10-17, advanced to the title game and secured a spot in next week’s 15th Region tournament with the win. The Hawks finished the season at 8-21.
Sal Dean poured in 21 points and Brett Coleman followed with 14 while Tyler Chaffin tallied 13.
Anthony Palotta paced Central with 11 points and Jacob Young chipped in 10.

GOODY – Pike County Central continued its late-season success with a 66-49 win over Phelps in the opening round of the girls’ 60th District Tournament played at Belfry High School on Tuesday night.
The Lady Hawks, now 13-14, advanced to the finals and earned a spot in next week’s 15th Region tournament in Pikeville with the win. Phelps season ends at 18-12.
Kelsi Brinager stripped the nets for a game-high 30 points and Bailey Birchfield followed with 17.
Danielle Prater finished her career with 20 points to pace the Lady Hornets. Kacie Dotson added 16.
