HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL: Pikeville wins second straight All A title

The Pikeville High School Panthers captured the 15th Region All A Classic Tournament championship at StoneCrest Sports Complex on Saturday.

The Panthers erased a two-run deficit with a four-run bottom of the fifth inning to beat Paintsville, 5-3, and win a second straight title.

Winning pitcher Tait Lakin doubled and drove in a pair of runs to help his own cause as Pikeville won its third straight game after starting the season 0-5.

Blake Birchfield singled and added an RBI while Tate Walters scored a pair of runs.

Three Pikeville pitchers combined to toss a no-hitter as the Panthers reached the All A Classic Tournament final with a 15-0 mercy-rule win over Phelps in a game played at StoneCrest Sports Complex on Friday.

Blake Birchfield had three hits, scored three runs, and drove in three as the Panthers moved to 2-5. Tate Lakin finished with two hits. He scored twice and batted in four. Winning pitcher Dylan Thompson singled in two runs.
