Shelby Valley, coming off its Pike County Bowl win over Pike Central, held on to hold off upset-minded Floyd Central, 16-14, in a thriller played at Langley on Friday night.
Quarterback Russ Osborne passed for 147 yards and one touchdown as the Wildcats improved to 2-1. Running back Jayden Newsome added 108 yards on the ground and one score on 10 carries.
Ethan Bentley hauled in a 9-yard TD pass, his only catch. He ran for a pair of two-point conversions, the difference in the outcome.
Jaguar running back Blake Adams ran for 159 yards on 26 carries and two touchdowns as Floyd Central dropped to 0-3. Sheston Johnson added 70 yards on 16 rushes and he scored a conversion.
Shelby Valley will return home to Teco Field to host North Laurel (3-0) while the Jaguars journey to Leslie County (0-3) on Friday night. Both games will kick off at 7:30 pm.
