HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: Bat Kats win four games in Lyndel Potter Memorial

Shelby Valley’s road to the championship game of the Lyndel Potter Memorial tournament included three one-run wins over Elizabethton (TN), Grant County and Tug Valley.

Shelby Valley’s Kyra Looney doubled in the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Bat Kats scored three times to rally past Tug Valley, 5-4, in the Lyndel Potter Memorial tournament played in Pikeville on Saturday.

Riley Fleming doubled, singled, scored, and batted in two runs while Macy Salyers had two hits and scored.

Winning pitcher Emily Adkins added an RBI single while Lindsey Reed tripled and scored.

Emily Hatfield had two hits and batted in four runs in the loss. Cassidy Griffey added two hits, walked, and scored two runs. Autumn Hall singled and scored a pair of runs.

Kinna Justice was the losing pitcher.

Emily Adkins finished with two hits and batted in two runs while Macy Salyers added two hits and crossed the plate twice.

Winning pitcher Lily Napier singled and drove in one run.

Josie Adkins collected three hits and scored two runs while driving in one. Olivia Bowling had two hits and scored two runs.

Riley Fleming was the winning pitcher.
