Shelby Valley erased a 21-point, first-half deficit and rallied to knock off Martin County, 47-34, in a Class 2A district matchup played at Hobart Clay Johnson Field on Thursday night.
The Wildcats improved to 5-2 with the win while the Cardinals dropped to 4-3.
Valley running back Jayden Newsome rushed for 194 yards and five touchdowns on 25 carries. Quarterback Russ Osborne passed for 150 yards and tossed a TD pass.
Receiver Brady Bentley caught four passes for 73 yards and a touchdown. Lincoln Billiter added a short rushing touchdown.
Martin County running back Madden Miller rushed for four touchdowns and quarterback Weston Jude added a TD run.
Both teams will be back in action on Friday night as the Wildcats play at East Ridge (3-4) while the Cardinals host West Carter (1-6). Both games will kick at 7:30 p.m.
