HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: Paintsville wins first All ‘A’ title in 16 years

After starting the season 1-10, the Paintsville Lady Tigers put together a championship effort in winning the 15th Region All “A” title with 12-2 win over Pikeville at Cardinal Stadium in Inez on Friday night.

The Lady Tigers outscored their opponents 34-2. It was their first title in 16 years and first win over Pikeville in seven years.

Paintsville erased an early two-run deficit, scoring the game’s final 12 runs, using two, four-run innings.

Chessa Collins doubled and singled, scored twice and drove in two runs while Ashley Wells added two singled and knocked in three runs.

Winning pitcher Laney Bledsoe doubled, walked, scored two runs, and batted in two. Destiny Trimble singled and walked, drove in two runs, and scored three.

Molly Music had three hits, scored once, and added an RBI. Kelsey Nusspickel singled, walked twice, scored three runs, and batted in one run.

Cassidy Slater collected two hits, walked, and scored two runs in the loss. Shana Ray added an RBI single.
