Video getting mixed reviews; adult says he was protecting opposing player, girls

 

A video is getting mixed reviews.

An adult, who is shown in this video clip of pushing Williamsburg quarterback Dalton Ponder after he was forced out of bounds. said he was protecting the signal-caller as well as members of the Paintsville High School cheerleading squad.

Twitter account Care Train (@richmond3323) said he was sorry it appeared the way it did but said he was keeping the player off the girls  as well as three massive heaters and large tents behind him.

He posted, “You call it what you want but I wasn’t trying to hurt a kid.”

Williamsburg head coach Jerry Herron said his school is looking into the incident. KHSAA officials have said the matter will need to be resolved by the two school.

Paintsville edged Williamsburg, 36-34, to reach the Class 1A semifinals this weekend.
