HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL: Lady Bobcats slip past Lady Warriors; P’burg nips Jenkins

Betsy Layne took a close fifth set for East Ridge to score a hard-fought 3-2 win in a match played on the Reservation on Tuesday night.

Katie Kidd finished with 13 kills, nine blocks, seven digs and two serving aces in the 25-17, 12-25, 25-22, 21-25 and 15-13 win.

Ashley Caudill totaled 10 kills, six blocks and five digs while Lindsey Watkins had 21 assists, 11 digs and 11 serving aces. Madi Meade finished with 33 digs and Akira Keathley had six kills and 11 blocks.

Hannah Blackburn had 16 kills and Gloria Irwin added 13 for the Lady Warriors. Jordan Bailey had 19 digs.

Emily Lester and Sarah Woods totaled 14 digs each. Woods also finished with 27 assists.

Letcher Central went on the road to Wolfe County and the Lady Cougars dropped a 2-0 match played on Tuesday night.

Summer Madden had six kills and three digs in the 25-14 and 25-21 loss.

Charlie Hale finished with three kills, seven digs and one serving ace while Kaleigh Tilley totaled 10 digs and one ace.

Prestonsburg took a close fifth set to edge host Jenkins, 3-2, in a match played on Tuesday night.

Molly Boyd had 11 kills, 10 assists, 11 digs and two scoring aces in the 25-16, 22-25, 25-14, 17-25 and 15-12 win.

Erin Akers totaled four kills, 15 assists, six digs and eight aces while Jade Slone had nine kills, two blocks, nine digs and two aces. Mya Burgess finished with eight kills, nine digs and four aces. Aaliyan Jarrell added 10 digs.

Floyd Central rolled to its second straight win to open the season as the Lady Jaguars cruised past Prestonsburg, 3-0, in a match played at Prestonsburg Fieldhouse on Monday night.

Jadyn Hall had seven kills, six digs and one ace in the 25-7, 25-13 and 25-15 win.

Allyson Stumbo finished with three kills, five digs and seven aces while Gabrielle Howard totaled six kills, four digs and nine aces. Caley Howard had six kills, two blocks, three digs and five aces.
