HS SOCCER ROUNDUP: Blackcats defeat West Carter in All ‘A’

Prestonsburg continued its march through the All “A” tournament as the Blackcats cruised to a 7-1 win over West Carter in a match played on Saturday.

Prestonsburg, now 6-0, punched its tickets to the state tournament in Frankfort on Sept. 26.

Dylan Moore scored three goals while Preston Crase had two goals and three assists. Isaiah Collins and Matt Burchett scored and assisted on one goal each.

Max Willoughby and Grant Justice each had an assist.

Goalkeeper Jacob Martin was solid in allowing just a single goal to West Carter’s Noah Hicks.

Boyd County goalkeepers Jack Samuel and Carter Gibson combined to shutout Belfry, 10-0, in a match played on Saturday.

The Lions, now 4-0, have not allowed a goal all season long.

J.B. Walter had three goals and one assist and Rylan Keelin, and Jonathan Stevens added two goals each.

Belfry goalkeeper Makaden Maynard had 12 saves as the Lions took 27 shots on goal.

Martin County’s Isaiah Zuidema scored a pair of goals, but it was not enough as the Cardinals dropped a 5-2 match to Lawrence County on Saturday.

Bobby Hale and Jestin Barker had one assist each. Goalkeeper Ethan Frey had six saves. Garrett Alley also saw action.

Menifee County’s Jayden Cohelia had six goals and assists on one other to power the Wildcats to a 10-0 win over host Paintsville in a match on Saturday.

The Tigers dropped to 0-3.

Alyssa Moore and Jasmine Justice had one goal apiece while Ellie Webb had two assists.

Goalkeeper Kaison Ward finished with five saves.

Boyd County built a seven-goal halftime lead and went on to beat Belfry, 7-1, in a match played on Saturday.

Sarah Wiedel scored the lone Lady Pirates and Mylah Caudill assisted on it.

Goalkeeper Graci McCoy had 14 saves and Kynlea Stanley added three.

Johnson Central remained undefeated with a 3-1 win over South Laurel in a match played on Saturday.

Lexi Scarberry, Makaylie Walker and Kelci Blair had one goal each for the Lady Eagles. Lakin Bentley had two assists.

Paintsville’s Camryn Helton scored three goals and assisted on three others as the Lady Tigers knocked off Menifee County, 7-1, in a match played on Saturday.

Izzy Chirico and Chloe Fleming added two goals each. Isabella Hyden, Leandra Curnutte and Ashley Well added one assist each.

Goalkeeper Emilea Preece had four saves and allowed one goal. Bethany Tackett finished out the match and stopped two shots.
