All ‘A’ STATE TOURNAMENT: Valley advances to quarters with win over Holy Cross

RICHMOND – Shelby Valley’s Alyssa Elswick was an inside force Louisville Holy Cross was no match for Wednesday night as she help lead the Lady Cats to a 64-30 victory in the opening round of the All “A” Classic State Championships being played at McBrayer Arena on the campus of Eastern Kentucky University.

Elswick finished with a game-high 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds as Valley improved to 13-5.

Tori Hampton and Zoee Johnson followed with 10 points apiece while Alyssa Newsom added nine.

Shelby Valley will face Walton-Verona (13-4) at 1 p.m. Friday in the quarterfinals.
