WILLIAMSBURG – The University of Pikeville men’s basketball Bears limped into Thursday night’s game short-handed.
The Patriots’ inside size advantage and UPIKE’s turnovers were the difference as the Bears fell 71-62 in the Mid-South Conference matchup.
UPIKE, now 15-5 and 3-5 in league play, has now lost five of their last six, including four straight.
Jordan Perry tossed in 18 points and Jazz Parker added 12 in the loss. Luke Layhew finished with 11. J.J. Ramey chipped in eight points and grabbed eight boards.
UPIKE will host a non-conference game against Carver College on Saturday at Appalachian Wireless Arena. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.

WILLIAMSBURG – The University of Pikeville women saw a first-half lead slip away as the University of Cumberlands knocked off the Bears, 64-61, in overtime on Thursday night.
Hailey Free paced the Bears, now 14-8 overall and 4-4 in league play, with 15 points. Kayla Mullins added 12.
UPIKE is idle until a road game at Thomas More University on Jan. 30.
